This time of year can be so tricky. One day, it’s 75 and sunny; the next, you’re breaking out that puffy jacket you’d giddily stashed in the back of your closet thinking you wouldn’t need it again ’til fall. The trick to surviving the season, style-wise, is to stock up on separates can be easily mixed up and switched about depending on the temperature.
Case in point: our Draper James Bailey Peplum Sleeve Sweater. On the one hand, it’s a sweater—a wardrobe item typically reserved for cooler months. But because it’s done in a crisp lightweight cotton with elbow-length peplum sleeves, it certainly has a warm weather appeal. But yet… the navy trim gives Bailey a bit of a tailored appeal that works with everything from a skirt to denim to dressy shorts.
Here, Washington, DC-based blogger Abbey Brandon of District Dress Up wore it paired with a pencil skirt and heels for a sharp day-to-night look.
“The Bailey Peplum Sleeve Sweater is the perfect piece to add to your nine-to-five wardrobe,” says Abbey, who works by day at a think tank. “I’d pair this with a cropped trouser in white for a monochromatic look, a classic black trouser for a more conservative office environment, or even dark denim and backless slides for a casual and modern ensemble.”
