The first thing you notice about Stephanie Taylor Jackson is her smile—decked out in daring shades of pink and red and unfailingly warm, friendly, and all-around beautiful.
The next thing you notice is her style—tailored, polished, and head-turning.
Based in Houston with her husband and two young boys (though they’re moving back to her hometown of Dallas soon), Stephanie publishes an eponymous blog with a healthy dose of work/life tips and plenty of enviable outfits. Check how she rocks our spring collection.
How would you describe your personal style?
Classic and chic, but also practical. I love bold pieces. I love to overdress. I’m the mom at my son’s basketball game dressed like I’m front row for NYFW and I’m not ashamed! But I’m also practical in the sense that I love to be comfortable. Everything I own is something I can run after my boys in, including my heels!
What drew you to these Draper James pieces and how did you style them?
When I saw the Dallas Pinewood Envelope clutch, I knew I needed it. As a Dallas native—and soon to be Dallas resident again (we’re moving back for my new job in luxury retail)—I immediately fell in love. The top I chose because I was drawn to the print and the flair sleeves. When I saw it, I knew that I’d wear it with red lipstick, and I couldn’t wait. The Goodness Gracious Sweatshirt was just too cute. I love a good saying and this top just screamed of Southern charm.
What’s your fashion uniform?
A great pair of denim, a show-stopping blouse, and a great shoe.
What trend are you really into lately?
I’m loving ruffles. Everywhere I go, I see them and I, of course, buy them! I was going through my closet the other day and thought I might need to slow down.
What will we never see you wearing?
I’d like to say I’d try anything once, but you probably won’t ever see me in platform heels or really short skirts, shorts, or dresses. Just not my style.
How would you describe Houston style?
Houston is so diverse and incredibly cultured. I would say Houston style is eye-catching and unique.
What’s the difference between Houston style and Dallas style?
Dallas style is a little more put together, all the time. Glamorous. Chic. While Houston is a little more free and eclectic. A little less judgmental, frankly!
Where did you shoot these images?
In The Woodlands, right near the Waterway. It’s beautiful there.
