Yesterday, we introduced The Perennial Style, a blog by three Dallas-based sisters who share both a love for fashion (not to mention a knack for putting looks together) and a love for the South. “From growing up in Alabama, to attending boarding school in Virginia, to college at SMU, we love—and live—all things Southern,” says middle sister Ellen Flowers. “Now that we have our own Draper James store in Dallas, where we currently live, it’s so nice to find a preppy and feminine brand we can always rely on.”
Click here to see how oldest sister Blair Flowers Butler styled our Ottoman Stripe Sweater Jacket, and read on to learn how Ellen—the self-described as the edgiest of the three—styled another piece from our new January collection: our Botanical Floral Shirtdress.
In 15 words or less, describe your personal style.
Feminine, trendy, and slightly unpredictable.
How do you think your style stands out from that of your sisters?
Even though my sisters and I share a wardrobe, my style has always been the most daring of the three. I love following trends, but more importantly, I love wearing something that makes me feel confident and unique.
What drew you to the Draper James Botanical Floral Shirtdress and how did you style it?
I’ve been loving midi skirts and feminine pieces this season, so I fell in love with this dress instantly. The structured collar and flirty shape make it perfect for any occasion!
Any style tips or rules you can share about dressing for this time of year?
Stocking my wardrobe with transitional pieces is always key for dressing for this time of year. I love a dress that can be paired with a warm pea coat and over-the-knee boots in the winter, but also with open-toe sandals and a chic pashmina in the spring.
How would you describe Dallas style?
What I love most about Dallas is that you can never be overdressed for any occasion. Dallas is such a glamorous city, so for a girl who loves to dress up, the city is perfect!
What’s your favorite “Southernism”?
“Pretty as a peach.”
