Every year, Nashville-based author, stylist, and blogger Katie Jacobs of Styling My Everyday wakes up early on Thanksgiving morning and starts cooking with her mother by her side. This year, Katie is adding a little kick to the tradition—she’ll be serving these delicious Salted Caramel Apple Mimosas to her mother and to anyone else who drops by to help dress the turkey.
Salted Caramel Apple Mimosas
serves 4
2 tbsp. caramel, recipe below
1 c. apple cider
1 750-ml bottle sparkling wine
Apple slices, for garnish (optional)
Pour caramel into a small dish. Dip champagne flutes into caramel to rim glass. Pour 1/4 cup apple cider into each flute and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with an apple slice before serving (optional).
Salted Caramel Sauce:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup heavy cream
3 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 teaspoon kosher salt
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium-low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Increase the heat and bring to a boil, without stirring, swirling pan if necessary. Boil until the syrup is a deep amber color, about 5 to 6 minutes. Remove the mixture from the heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream. The mixture will bubble. Stir in the unsalted butter, and salt. Transfer the caramel to a dish and cool.
