Hello, Sugar: Holiday Hot Cocoa with Bethcakes [RECIPE]

If you’re nearby this weekend, come by and visit our Nashville boutique, where we’ll be serving up hot cocoa and cookies all day long on Saturday.

If you’re anywhere else, check out the recipe below for Nutella Hot Chocolate from our pal Beth Branch of Bethcakes blog. Served in our Draper James mugs, it’s the perfect dose of snuggly and sweet for the holidays—and all winter long.

“Who doesn’t love a warm mug of hot cocoa during this season?” says Beth, who poured her version into our Draper James Wreath Mugs. “People come up with creative twists on all kinds of classic recipes these days, so I thought it would be fun to stir some Nutella into a classic hot cocoa recipe! You could also try it with peanut butter or salted caramel.”

Beth loves to serve hot cocoa at holiday parties. “How fun would it be to walk into a Christmas party and see a ‘make your own hot cocoa’ bar with all kinds of flavors and toppings?” she suggests. “There’s just something so cozy and nostalgic about hot cocoa. It’s perfect this time of the year.”

As for the Draper James mugs: “How could you not want these mugs after laying your eyes on them?” says the Alabama native. “I love the dark blue with the festive colors, and the shiny gold handle and rim. Major heart eyes over here. I love the Wreath Coasters, too. Anything with the word ‘y’all’ thrown on the end of it will catch my eye. Plus, they’re perfect for serving marshmallows.”

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup Nutella (or peanut butter or salted caramel)
  • ¼ tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
