After stops in Richmond and Nashville, our virtual tour of Southern boutique hotels has us currently stationed in Savannah. At two-year-old hotel The Brice, guests relish the contemporary decor (we love the yellow-and-grey color scheme) along with sweet touches like red beach cruisers guests can borrow and seersucker robes (and yoga mats) stashed in every room. Rooms look onto charming Washington Square, historic downtown Savannah, or the hotel’s own garden pool.
Below, Marie Dalis-Brown, the hotel’s Director of Sales & Marketing, tells us more:
What makes Savannah the perfect summer vacation spot?
Meandering through the squares while sipping a cocktail, taking an Old Savannah Tour, enjoying Leopold’s Ice Cream, watching the ships go by on River Street, strolling Forsyth Park, shopping on Broughton or Whitaker at Jones Streets and heading over to Tybee for a morning in the waves. Savannah is at a slower pace, easy going, laid back. . . And we tell people how many adult beverages it will take to get from point A to point B!
Your must-visit. . . Restaurant?
Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, located within The Brice. The favorite dish among the local’s is the Coca Cola Braised Short Ribs; it pays homage to the building’s history as a Coca Cola Bottling plant. I also like The Grey; it has gorgeous décor and amazing food.
Bar?
At Pacci’s bar, try the Savannah Breeze (grapefruit infused vodka, St. Germain, and cranberry) or the Bottled Bourbon & Cola (Four Roses Yellow Label and house-made Pacci cola).
Shop?
I have to pick only one? Too hard; here are several: One Fish Two Fish, The Paris Market, and 24e.
Spot for some local culture or relaxation?
Back River Beach at Tybee, SCAD Museum of Art, Jepson Center and Telfair Museum, Forsyth Park, Old Fort Jackson, Fort Pulaski. . .
Place only a local would know?
Abe’s on Lincoln is a great dive bar. Shhh—I don’t want it to get out!
If we’re spending an afternoon or evening “in” at your hotel, what should we do?From 5 to 6 p.m. enjoy our social hour with complimentary wine and Brice tea (tea, lemonade and vodka). Spend the evening under our twinkle lights in the hotel’s “secret garden” with your best friend, Fido (our hotel is dog-friendly) and your loved one, while munching on appetizers from Pacci.
This summer, we’re serving up Brice Coke Floats on Tuesdays during wine hour. We’ve got a sweet tea station each day in the afternoon and a morning iced coffee station with granola bars.
