I always get excited when I see the first veggies grow in my garden. The little tops of carrots excite me to no end!  My grandfather taught me how to grow vegetables in his backyard—though now that I think about it, he would be gardening and I would be following behind him talking his ear off! He loved tending to his squash, green beans, tomatoes, and (the best!) watermelon. Whatever our family couldn’t eat, he would deliver to his neighbors early in the mornings. To this day, the smell of tomato plants takes me back to being a little girl following my Grandpa Jimmy around the garden.

XO,
