Ever since we opened our Draper James boutique in Highland Park Village in Dallas this past fall, we’ve been seriously digging the city’s style. Almost without exception, the women of Dallas are enviably polished and put-together, whether they’re heading to lunch or just hitting the gym. In the past few weeks, we’ve talked to several of the city’s style stars—bloggers like The Perennial Style, Dallas Wardrobe, and Krystal Shlegel who, through their presence about town and on social media, serve as ambassadors for the city’s best fashion.
Yet we’d be remiss if we didn’t get the scoop from Brooke Burnett of One Small Blonde. The influential lifestyle blogger (and founder of her own digital marketing agency) is the epitome of contemporary Dallas chic. See how she made our Rosslyn Dress her own, and learn about some of her favorite local spots.
We love following your blog. What’s coming up that you are excited about?
I’ve recently started Blogger Boss Workshops, four-session series for WordPress bloggers to help them grow their presence through strategies like SEO and email marketing. It’s a great way of combining my “day job” in digital marketing with my work as a blogger. I’m also doing lots of travel this year, so look for more of that on the blog.
Tell us a bit about your personal style.
Simple. Sophisticated. Chic. Comfort is the most important thing to me when styling any outfit. My style has evolved in that over time, I’ve added more upscale items to my wardrobe.
What drew you to the Draper James Rosslyn Dress and how did you style it?
Valentine’s Day is coming up, and every girl needs a great dress to wear.
Tell us about Dallas style!
Everyone in Dallas likes to dress up! I think women in the South were taught: always look put-together even if you’re running to the grocery store because you never know who you’ll run into! Women in Dallas live by the motto “look good, feel good”!
What do you love most about living in Dallas?
Dallas has big city vibes with a small town feel. It’s big enough that you can have all sorts of different things on your social calendar, but once you’ve been here for awhile, you realize how small this city can be! I usually always have a friend in common with anyone I meet when I’m out and about socializing.
