We love her easy, laid-back, always-a-hug, never-a-handshake-charm and style so much that we wish we could bottle it up send it to you with every Draper James order.
Since we can’t do that, we thought we would share Ruthie’s answers to our Draper James Seven—seven questions we frequently ask Southern style makers.
What is your favorite Southern city?
Nashville for sure!
Favorite Southern restaurant?
Rolf and Daughters in Nashville.
Favorite Southern tradition?
Crawfish boils! I grew up in Southern Louisiana, where we don’t have a traditional Easter meal instead we have a huge family crawfish boil.
Sweet tea or unsweetened?
I’m weird, I don’t drink sweet tea, but if I had to choose one, always sugar…always.
Cowboy boots or heels?
I’m six feet tall so I don’t really do the high heel thing, so I would most definitely have to say boots.
How do you describe Southern style?
I think Southern style is charming, but it differs depending on where you are. Where I grew up it was very preppy and classic, but I now live in a very artistic community in Nashville where the style is far from preppy, it’s more bohemian.
Describe your style.
I would say I have a tomboyish style. I love men’s clothing and men’s-inspired clothing. I definitely value quality over quantity, so I have narrowed down my closet to pieces that I really love and ones that will last. I also love accessories…I basically wear a hat everyday!
