“The first book I ever remember reading was The Country Bunny,” recalls Reese. “My grandmother read it to me every year around Easter along with The Velveteen Rabbit—another classic.”

Here, a few of our favorite Easter books to read with the little ones after a long day of egg hunting.

The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by DuBose Heyward; illustrated by Marjorie Flack
The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams; illustrated by William Nicholson
The Easter Egg by Jan Brett
The Golden Egg Book by Margaret Wise Brown; illustrated by Leonard Weisgard
The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
Ollie’s Easter Eggs by Olivier Dunrea
Marshmallow by Clare Turlay Newberry
The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter
Horton Hatches the Egg by Dr. Seuss
The Easter Bunny’s Assistant by Jan Thomas
