Mixing-and-a-Mingling in Charleston for Christmas

The work of a single style blogger alone can provide plenty of inspiration. But put five of them together in one of our favorite Southern cities, and you’ve got fashion fodder aplenty.

Take, for example, the regular monthly collaborations by a quintet of social media mavens in Charleston, SC. Dubbed #HolyCityChicks on Instagram, these chic meet-ups are a way for bloggers to come together to work with various brands, explore local spots, and support one another creatively.

Liz Martin of Charleston Weekender reached out to Draper James regarding the group’s latest photo shoot, a Champagne toast and s’mores making at a new Charleston resort called The Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina. We were happy to dress them all in our holiday best.

After sharing a holiday toast, the crew went on to drink hot cocoa and cook up some s’mores in a fire pit set up by the resort. “There is a gorgeous view of the marina behind the pit,” says Liz, “so it’s a good spot for both land lovers and boat lovers to gather this time of year.”

Each blogger picked her own Draper James pieces to wear. “The capes, in particular, were a huge hit,” says Liz. “They are the perfect winter coat for our area because we don’t have super harsh winters.  Other than the plaid cape and plaid skirt, everyone went for black, white, and navy so their looks worked for the whole winter. We all picked pieces that will get plenty of use from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve.”

Their Draper James picks were, as follows: Kelsey Hill of Chasing Cinderella in our Embellished Snowflake Sweater; Andrea Serrano of Charleston Shop Curator in our Winston Shift Dress; Liz Martin of Charleston Weekender in our Georgia Plaid Cape; Brittany Lapin of Southern Meets Chic in our Shimmer Lace Top; and Kalyn Johnson Chandler of Effie’s Paper in our Houston Cape and Plaid Pencil Skirt.

“Charleston is truly a city that is about connecting and gathering,” says Liz, which makes it the perfect place for the holiday season. “There is never a shortage of fun events to partake in this time of year, and it seems like the sun is almost always shining.” The culinary influences of the region are the basis for celebrations like oyster roasts and Lowcountry boils, and more restaurants and breweries are popping up every day. In fact, we love to eat, drink, and be merry all year long!”
