A Southern Porch Party to Celebrate Spring

To celebrate the warmer weather finally arriving to Charleston, blogger Sarah Weisbrod of Hello Darling got together with friends Hilary from By Hilary Rose and Randi from Kay & Co to host a Southern porch party complete with champagne, sweets, and lots of laughs.

The three of them dressed up in their Draper James dresses, and Julie from Julie Livingston Photography was kind enough to lend them her gorgeous porch as the setting for the party. See more snapshots from the porch party, which featured a bubbly bar with champagne, flowers, colorful pastel cupcakes, below.

What was the inspiration behind the porch party?

Randi: I love the idea of making every day a celebration, so when the weather started to warm up for spring, we were inspired to put together this little bubbly bar on the porch to celebrate the new season! Sunny days + spring blooms + friends = all the reasons to celebrate.

Describe the party in 3 words.

Sarah: Southern, charming, fun!

What’s your favorite part about spring in Charleston?

Sarah: The flowers! Spring in Charleston is really when everything starts to come to life; the wisteria starts to bloom downtown, roses start to climb up the palmetto trees around Colonial Lake, and the jasmine starts to peek out around all of my favorite historic streets.

What’s your number one tip for throwing your own bubbly bar party?

Randi: Keep it simple! You might think you need tons of ingredients for your bubbly bar, but even just the combination of a treat, a cocktail, a fun accessory like florals or cute glasses, and the ones you love will make for a perfect special day. Your guests are going to appreciate your efforts, no matter what!

What drew you to these Draper James dresses?

Sarah: It was love at first sight when I saw the classic and feminine cut of the Gingham Love Circle Dress, plus the gingham pattern! Gingham is pretty much a staple in my wardrobe, as is Draper James, so I just knew that the two together would be perfection.

Randi: I was instantly drawn to the floral pattern of the Floral Button Front Shirtdress–the perfect dress to take you from work to happy hour with your girlfriends!

Hilary: Blue is one of my favorite colors, and I loved the fun, feminine, and flirty vibe of Henley A-Line Dress!
