Stylemaker Seven, Holiday Edition: Candace Nelson of Sprinkles

p1070189

Candace Nelson, founder of Sprinkles cupcakes, is wearing our Draper James Flurry Dot Top. Find the recipe for her Spice Cupcakes here and see Candace’s holiday favorites below.

In our opinion, the first stop on a visit to Nashville’s 12South neighborhood is a shop-op at our Draper James flagship boutique. The second should be a sweet treat at Sprinkles just down the street. The world-famous cupcakery (now with almost two-dozen locations around the country) was founded by Candace Nelson, who just last week shared her Spice Cupcakes recipe with us. (Find it here.)

Below, the pastry chef, accomplished entrepreneur, and author of a new cookbook, The Sprinkles Baking Book, answers a “holiday edition” of our Stylemaker Seven, a regular series highlighting the favorites of lifestyle experts we admire.

Go-To Holiday Hostess Gift: I love to gift Aplat culinary totes. They are perfect for carrying pies, wine, and casserole dishes in style!
Holiday album: A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Holiday Bouquet: I love holiday wreaths by Moon Canyon in Los Angeles. Holiday florals, to me, are best when they are simple and crisp in whites and greens.
Holiday Cocktail: I love a frosty Moscow Mule in a beautiful copper mug.
Holiday Dish: Last year I brought Roe Caviar to my family’s Christmas Eve dinner and I was a hero! White sturgeon caviar, sustainably raised in California—there is truly nothing more elegant and celebratory!
Holiday Family Tradition: Sugar cookie decorating! My sister and I used to make them every year with my mom. For my sons, I make bowls of different colored royal icings and let them embrace their inner (sugar) artist. Then, of course, they eat their masterpieces!
Best Way to Recover When it’s All Over: I have always loved a late afternoon nap! Even 20 minutes can make me feel like new again!
