Reese hangs with music industry superstar (and resident Draper James deejay!) Anastasia Brown.
Music is as quintessential to the South as sweet tea and sittin’ on the front porch. So whether we’re hosting a cocktail party or going on a road trip, the playlist is (almost!) as important to us as what we’re wearing.
Lucky for us, we’ve got a good friend to help us choose the tunes: Anastasia Brown (follow her here! instagram, twitter, pinterest) is a music industry superstar who has music supervised films and television series that have garnered Oscar, Grammy, Dove, and Emmy wins and nominations.
While Brown spends her fair share of time in Hollywood (she just served as music consultant for Hot Pursuit, starring our own southern gal), her heart belongs in the South. In fact, her next project is I Saw the Light, a bio-pic about country singer Hank Williams, in theaters this November.
Anastasia and Reese are longtime pals.
“I regularly host CMA [Country Music Awards] parties with a bunch of friends in Nashville, where I live,” says Anastasia. “Back in 2006, the year Reese won her Oscar for Walk the Line, she came to town with her best friend Shannon Rotenberg for the awards. We invited them to ‘come on over,’ as we say in the South, and we had loads of fun until the wee hours. I still have photos of several of us sitting on the floor in our gowns singing along with Keith (Urban), Nicole (Kidman), Reba (McEntire), Sheryl (Crow), Kenny (Chesney and Loggins), Eddie (Perez), Martina (McBride), and Ronnie (Dunn), to name a few. The best moment was when we moved to the barn and gathered around the piano. That’s when Reese and King George (George Strait) sang a duet and then we all joined in. It was an unforgettable evening.”
